Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by nothing changes Having a hotel close to the airport especially useful for an early flight is a advantage, however if you ask for a early morning call ,and it doesn’t come ,then you may miss your flight. This has happened previously and on my recent stay the time was entered in the book but I a spent a restless night knowing that there was a possibility that the call would not come through. I was correct and next morning there was an apology and a lame excuse that a mechanical failure had occurred. Human error is more likely. Even though the time was entered in a book , another employee is responsible for programming. If the receptionist had done this herself I was more likely to receive the call. At one time guests were able to set the TV for an alarm call. This facility is regrettably not available. I also asked for a transfer to the airport, although I sometimes walk. I wish I had. The departure time was again entered. Next morning I was about to put my bag in the back of the shuttle when a gruff aggressive voice shouted ,'where do you think you are going?' I answered to the airport. At first I thought this was a joke, Then he added ''your not on my list ' and he stormed back into the hotel to check the numbers. There were only two other passengers on the bus. On the short journey he mentioned that he had cooked the sausages that morning. He would do the hotel a favour if his work was confined to that area. Wherever I travel I take running shoes with me. I tried to locate the small gym that was on the ground floor. However I was informed that it had been converted back into a bedroom. because it was little used. Most Holiday Inns have a gym facility or access to one nearby. I think this is a retrograde step when fitness is big issue. What could be a better place to exercise before going on a holiday. Maybe if the facility had been advertised more guests would have used it. I have used this hotel from the first week it opened . The local bus serviced to the airport has improved with a frequent service, with a bus shelter a few feet from the hotel building,but there is no direct access to the hotel. (wire fence) It is necessary to double back to a roundabout, travel along another short road into the car park before reaching the hotel at the far end . Not a pleasant walk in wet and windy weather. Clearly the hotel is in a rut . Has nobody realised that Christmas and Easter have long gone and yet on every table in the eating area there are vases glittery Christmas poinsettias and bunches of red berry holly. There were once stylish vases with a single flower. At this time of year surely a daffodil would be more appropriate. The reception is always fast and efficient. but at the same time there is a feeling that the person on the desk needs to be somewhere else. There is never time for personal greeting or conservation. Company rules no doubt. May 2, 2016
