Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by HokieSunshine This hotel's age is showing
The hotel sits on the outskirts of Christiansburg about 15 minutes from the heart of the Virginia Tech campus. Right off of Roanoke street and 81/460, the hotel deals with a little road noise, but not enough to be a huge issue.
What is an issue is this: the hotel's age is showing. While the lobby is clean and fine (as is the breakfast area and community areas), the rooms are not. Ours was musty, most likely due to the through-the-wall AC unit that might've been leaking. The white comforter had stains on it and worst, the beds both squeaked horribly, keeping everyone awake.
We would have switched hotels, but it was move-in weekend for Tech, so all the rooms were booked. I tried to call the front desk on a few occasions, but they never answer.
What's good about the hotel? Well, you need to use a key to open the sliding doors at all times. I like that measure of security. However, that was offset by housekeeping keying into our room while we were changing. Apparently our late checkout request hadn't made it to them.
The breakfast is basic and standard. I like that it's free and easy... but it's eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, pancakes, all served on styrofoam and with plasticware.
We won't be coming back to this hotel.
